It is a dream for most up and coming brands to get into beloved beauty stores. However, it was a dream come true for Paris Manning, creator of Velvet 59, whose products have been making their way into Ricky’s NYC locations for the past month. Manning had the opportunity to meet Velvet 59 fans on February 25th at the East 14th Street location of Ricky’s NYC, where she chatted about the development of Velvet 59.
Ricky’s NYC was filled with bloggers and beauty enthusiasts who were excited to meet Paris Manning and chat about Velvet 59, which has been making a splash in the industry. It is a vegan line, which is also cruelty, paraben, and gluten free! One of Velvet 59’s most beneficial ingredients is the Sachi Inchi Oil, which is native to the Amazon Rainforest. This oil has anti-aging and moisturizing properties, which make it great for the skin and body. The addition of Sachi Inchi Oil in Velvet 59 products, as well as the other sustainable ingredients, helps give back to Amazonian communities and reduce Earth’s footprint.
I was lucky enough to chat with Manning briefly, who gave me some background on Velvet 59, which launched in July 2015. Manning got her start as a makeup artist. She grew up in the industry, as her family owned a cosmetic company in the UK. Velvet 59’s vegan ingredients made the products suitable for all people, including the glitter in her products, which was certified and does not come from child labor mines. Manning also talked about the inspiration for Velvet 59, which came from Old Hollywood glamour, including Audrey Hepburn and Marilyn Monroe. She explained that the theme could be seen throughout her products and we should see more of it with future products, which should be out soon!
