When I was a teenager I never had cramps or breakouts. I guess these experiences were all reserved for the moment I embraced middle age. Whiteheads now make random appearances when I least need them to do so, much like they do on the face of a frustrated seventh grader.

The regular spot treatments were not the answer and one day I stumbled upon Mario Badescu’s Drying Lotion and it changed my life. I like to call it my little glass bottle of magic elixir.

The Drying Lotion is a quick acting, over night, acne spot treatment. It is formulated with salicylic acid, calamine and other quick-drying ingredients, that shrink my ugly whiteheads within 24-48 hours.

When applying it, do not shake the bottle. Before bed (after your regular cleansing and toning), dip a cotton swab into the pink sediment at the bottom of the bottle. Dab directly on surface blemishes; do not rub in. Let it dry and rinse off in the morning and follow your regular cleansing routine. Do not ever put it on a popped pimple or broken skin. This is advice I offer from a lesson well learned.

This product is safe for all skin types and does not dry out your skin. It is also cruelty free and the price point is pretty decent at $17 a bottle at your local Ulta Beauty.

I highly recommend this for whiteheads and emergency spot treatment but not for preventing acne. My medicine cabinet will always have at least one bottle of this magic potion, drying lotion.
